Performers: Wayne Brady, Chip Esten, Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles

Comments: This one is kind of strange. The second of the October 2001 "Too Hot" episodes, it doesn't really seem to merit that status. And it's somewhat below average in humor, but there's a reason for that; Ryan was not feeling well when the show was taped, which was only made worse by an incident in the first game. The rough shape he's in is apparent through the rest of the episode, and though he goes on like the trooper that he is, he's not playing at his usual standard--which does have an effect on the show as a whole.

Notable Quote: "Nice pants." - Colin in Song Titles

Hollywood Director: Colin directs. Incompetent waiter Ryan spills something on temperamental supermodel Wayne, and is confronted by Wayne's angry husband Chip. The styles are the Exorcist, on an out-of-control moving walkway, rodeo riders, and a porn movie filled with exercise instructors.
It's really visible from the start that Ryan isn't feeling so hot. He looks a little dazed, forgets a role Colin gives him, and in his explanation he puts a suspicious emphasis on the word "sick" (I believe as a subtle reminder to the others). Unfortunately, Chip doesn't get the hint, and in an overzealous moment he hurts Ryan by physically jumping onto his back. I have to give Ryan credit just for going on with the game after that.

Duet: Wayne and Chip sing a speed metal song to exotic animal trainer Shauna.
Compared to other duets sung by this exceptional pair, this song is a disappointment; maybe it's just the style they were given. Wayne's finale is funny, though, as he turns the tables by jumping onto Chip.

Song Titles: The performers act out a busy Saturday night at a police station.
This is an unusually strong game of Song Titles, and it's nice to see Colin manage to crack up the long-suffering Ryan at the end.

Scenes From A Hat: The players act out... Times when you'd like to say, "Let's see that again in slow motion"; bad names for perfume; what your dogs think and do when you leave them alone in the house; unusual cases for the FBI; world's worst catchphrases; if people broke into song in real life; difficult questions for Mommy to answer.
In an episode that struggles quite a bit (but to be fair, not without cause), this is clearly the funniest game. Colin dominates; it was hard not to choose his quip of "I'm adorable" as the Notable Quote. Ryan overcomes his bad day with a few clever jokes as well, and Wayne is very funny, especially when he keels over laughing in reaction to Colin's catchphrase.

Hoedown: Chip, Drew, Colin and Ryan sing about drunken mothers.
Chip's verse is rather unkind to Colin, prompting both Drew and Colin to get back at him for it; meanwhile, poor Ryan just looks and sounds like he wants to go home. I was uncomfortable with this one all around.

Credits: Chip and Ryan read as competing ventriloquists, with Wayne and Colin their respective dummies.
One of my rare credit-reading observations: it's hard not to laugh any time Colin ends up on Ryan's lap.
