Sir Malcolm Redgrave
Ambrose FSC Skating Director

Born in Chatham, Kent, England, Malcolm Redgrave first began skating at the age of four. Noted for his athletic power and impressive jumps, he claimed six national championships between 1969-1977, was the world champion in 1973 and 1974, and respectively placed ninth and fifth in the 1972 and 1976 Olympics.

Malcolm had hopes of competing in the 1980 British Nationals, but shortly beforehand, chose to turn pro in favor of spending more time with his wife of nine years, Margaret Alston Redgrave. Shortly afterward, she was diagnosed with cancer, and died later in the year.

After Margaret's passing, Malcolm withdrew from involvement in figure skating for nearly two years, keeping to himself in his Chatham home. At last, in early 1983, he made a return to the sport. He worked as a commentator and wrote editorials for another two years, before moving to America to begin a career as a coach.

In 1987, he became head coach of the Ambrose Figure Skating Club in Ambrose, Minnesota. Since then, his career has been marked with phenomenal success as the coach of national, world and Olympic champions.

Malcolm was knighted during the 2004 Winter Olympics in London.
